I have been anxiously awaiting the day that I could share this with you all... it is my own version of a 'clip-it' storage that was inspired by this post on scrappertalk (aka SBA). It is an alternative to the rotating Clip It Up storage system. I like the original Clip It Up thing, but didn't have the dollars or the desktop space for it... and when I saw Angie's alternative, I knew I just had to create one. I didn't have the wall space to use the curtain rods like Angie did, so the end result turned out similar yet different than hers.
Here's my 'clip it' system:
I bought the clips from Oriental Trading Company. I purchased these silvertone metal clips, and these plastic belt key clips to make each clip unit (***UPDATE on Broken Clips: I emailed Oriental Trading Company about the broken clips - a couple dozen of the plastic key clips were broken and unusable - and OTC emailed me a shipping confirmation notice today that said they shipped out a whole new bag. Wow! Now that's great customer service!!! I'll keep you posted when they arrive... (they did arrive just as promised. :-) ***).
Here are pictures of the clips:
I hung them from a wire shelf unit, and grouped many like items in ziploc bags, but also clipped many things individually. I utilized the back portion of the shelves for varied items, mostly stuff I don't access very often. I really like how it turned out! I grouped stuff by category, for instance my chipboard stuff is by manufacturer in the bags. And I also have things like slide mounts, tags, and envelopes separated into ziplocs on the bottom shelf. Oh, and on the ends of the top and bottom shelves are my "Ziploc Books" that I posted not too long ago... they worked out great because they're full of lightweight prima flowers (I attached the metal clip part onto the "spine" end of the glued-together bags). It is so easy now to see what I have, and flip through it when I'm scrapbooking. It actually gave me the feeling of being in a scrapbook store flipping through the embellishments & stickers, but it was my own stash! LOL
It is my hope that this creation will inspire someone out there, like me, who loves to find the "perfect" solution to a storage delimma. We scrappers are constantly needing to update and adjust our storage options for varied reasons. And for me, my reason is as I've said before, that I had to find new solutions for storing my goods because we moved, and I no longer had a dedicated scrap space. Feel free to ask questions and I'll try to answer back in later posts.
I hope everyone had a great Easter! 'Till next time...
~Neece, out.
Neece, you are the organization QUEEN! That is great! I almost made myself a ziplock book over the weekend. I'm tired of digging through strips of ribbon!
Thanks for sharing.
